Drone alerts in Denmark spur NATO baltic action

COPENHAGEN, Sep 28: The Danish defence ministry reported multiple drone sightings at armed forces locations, coinciding with heightened NATO vigilance in the Baltic Sea region. Following incidents over Danish airports, NATO announced enhanced surveillance measures, including new intelligence assets. Germany and Sweden are providing military support to Denmark, particularly against drone threats. This development has raised public concern, prompting requests for suspicious activity reports to the police. Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard noted that the drone flyovers aim to instill fear, suggesting potential legislative measures to counter them. While the origin of the drones remains unclear, suspicions of Russian involvement linger, which Moscow denies. (AP)
