SHILLONG, Sep 29: A health awareness programme was organised by the BSF at its Frontier Headquarters here on Monday to mark the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan. The programme, initiated by the BSF Wives Welfare Association (BWWA) and Composite Hospital Shillong, featured a distinguished team of doctors who delivered lectures on key health issues.
Dr Tanjeet Kaur, Second-in-Command and Specialist Grade-II (Gynaecology) at Composite Hospital, BSF Shillong, spoke on menstrual hygiene and the taboos associated with it, stressing the importance of proper menstrual hygiene management to promote the health and well-being of women.
Dr Kim Barle, Clinical Psychologist from NEIGRIHMS, addressed mental health and behavioural change, while Dr RC Bishariya, DIG (Medical) and Medical Superintendent of Composite Hospital, underlined the need to recognise signs and symptoms of mental health issues alongside promoting mental well-being.
Balaswa, Dietician, highlighted the importance of a balanced diet and nutrition for women and adolescent girls. Dr Anuja Sarma, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialist from NEIGRIHMS, delivered a lecture on breast cancer, cervical cancer, and menopause.
The event successfully enhanced health awareness among BSF wives, female staff, and wards of BSF personnel in Frontier BSF Meghalaya. Others were able to join the sessions virtually through video conferencing.
