SHILLONG, Oct 4: The Meghalaya government has set its eyes firmly on achieving complete literacy across the state, with Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui asserting that the mission will remain a top priority in the days ahead.
He explained that the government is focusing on bringing education to every citizen, and the results will reflect as the effort continues.
Rymbui remarked that every administration must set clear goals, and for Meghalaya, the goal is cent percent literacy, which the state will strive to achieve.
The minister also cautioned that this ambitious target cannot be met by the government alone.
He said parents, community leaders and stakeholders at every level must join hands, as collective participation is the only way to turn the literacy dream into reality. Recently, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong had expressed confidence to achieve a cent percent literacy rate by 2028.
He had also appealed to parents not to shift their educational responsibilities onto others but to take an active role in guiding their children.
