SHILLONG, Oct 4: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has underscored that Meghalaya has entered a new phase in higher education, with several long-awaited institutions now taking shape across the state.
The minister informed that the Shillong Engineering College has already begun functioning from the campus of Shillong Polytechnic.
Stressing the government’s achievements, he remarked that in just seven and a half years, the MDA government was able to establish the Captain Williamson Sangma State University, which he described as a matter of pride.
The minister expressed gratitude that the state’s first engineering college has started functioning, the medical college is on track to begin, and the Science College in Mawphlang has already opened.
He added that plans are in motion to set up a College of Urban Planning and Architecture in Tura as well as another Science College at Mahendraganj.
He acknowledged that challenges in starting new institutions are inevitable but maintained that every journey must begin with a first step, and that process has now been set in motion.
