Police exam results likely this month

By Our Reporter

SHILLONG, Oct 7: A group of police job aspirants on Tuesday visited the office of the Chairman of the Central Recruitment Board (CRB), Dalton P Marak, seeking clarification on the delay in the declaration of results for the Meghalaya Police Recruitment 2025 written examination. Their visit yielded a positive outcome as the official confirmed that the results are likely to be announced this month i.e. October.
The unannounced visit, however, reportedly caught the police officials by surprise, as no prior intimation had been given. But the aspirants clarified that their visit was not a protest but a peaceful attempt to obtain updates on the pending results.
One of the aspirants, Mebianglynti Khyllep, said they only wanted to know when the results would be announced, as it has already been three months since they appeared for the written examination.
“We are not protesting. We just wanted to know when the results will be declared,” said Khyllep, recalling that Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, who also holds the Home (Police) portfolio, had earlier stated that the results would be announced within three months.
According to Khyllep, the CRB Chairman informed them that the delay was not due to the Police Department but because the examination process had been outsourced to a private recruitment agency.
“We are satisfied with the clarification. The chairman assured us that the written results and personal interviews will be completed by November,” Khyllep added, expressing confidence that the recruitment process has been conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
Meanwhile, CRB Chairman Dalton P Marak confirmed that the written examination results are likely to be declared within this month.
He explained that the Board had initially planned to release the results in the first week of September, but the schedule was delayed due to pending work from the evaluation company handling the OMR sheet assessments.
“There were some delays in the evaluation process, but the results will be out soon so that we can proceed with the interview stage for shortlisted candidates,” Marak said.
He further revealed that around 54,000 candidates had appeared for the written test, which made the evaluation process time-consuming, as each OMR sheet had to be carefully verified.
Reassuring transparency, Marak said the recruitment process remains fair and unbiased, with each candidate provided three copies of their OMR sheet — one for the evaluation agency, one for the CRB, and one for the candidate to verify their marks once the results are published.
He also informed that the marks for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) have already been declared, and the Board will soon release the written test marks along with the answer keys, allowing candidates to cross-check and compare their responses.
