Assam Forest Dept commends conservation scientist Bibhab Talukdar

Guwahati, Oct 8: Passionate Conservation Scientist, Secretary General and the Executive Director of Aaranyak, Dr Bibhab Kumar Talukdar was today conferred Certificate of Commendation for Dedication and Service by the Assam Forest Department on October 8, 2025 at the state-level function on celebrations of Wildlife Week, 2025 held at the auditorium of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati.

The function was graced by Assam Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary in presence of all the senior Assam Forest Officers including the PCCF and HoFF Sandeep Kumar, IFS; the PCCF (WL) and Chief Wildlife Warden of Assam Dr Vinay Gupta, IFS, and a distinguished gathering that included several retired senior officials of the department, forest department staff, noted conservationists, conservation workers and others.

Dr Talukdar has been conferred the appreciation in recognition to his extraordinary dedication, unwavering commitment and outstanding contributions towards the protection, preservation and management of wildlife, thereby nurturing a lasting legacy of conservation for future generations.

“His work has substantially advanced the scientific foundation and applied practice of conservation” the citation reads.

Expressing his gratitude Dr. Bibhab Kumar Talukdar, who is travelling to Abu Dhabi to attend the IUCN World Conservation Congress starting from tomorrow morning, said, “It has been a great opportunity and privilege to work with officials of Assam Forest Department for over 35 years in our constant endeavour to compliment the efforts of the department. Recognition of my efforts by the Assam Forest Department will further enhance my zeal to work in tandem with the department to achieve the common goals of conservation in Assam. I offer my sincere sense of gratitude,”
