SHILLONG, Oct 14: The jinxed Smart Road project in the Lachumiere area of Shillong has been foreclosed after finding it unfeasible.
According to a letter dated July 25, 2025, the government officially foreclosed the project, an announcement that had already been made informally last year.
The incomplete Smart Road in Lachumiere has remained in a dilapidated state for the past few years, with the government showing little urgency to address the issue. Ironically, even after its cancellation, the road has been left unattended, causing growing concern among residents and commuters. The fate of the project remains uncertain.
When contacted for an update, officials from the Urban Affairs department did not provide any response regarding the project.
