Deborah unaware of move to replace Cong chief Pala

SHILLONG, Oct 18: In the wake of reported All India Congress Committee’s (AICC) move to replace Vincent Pala as the president of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), the working president of the MPCC, Deborah Marak, has stated that she not aware of any such move to replace Pala.
Marak said that it is solely the AICC’s prerogative to take a call on the matter, adding that if there are any issues within the party, the Congress has its own internal mechanism to resolve them.
She further maintained that it is not appropriate for some leaders to go to the media with unverified claims.
A senior party leader has earlier anonymously claimed that the AICC plans to remove MPCC president Pala. However, there is no clarity on who would replace him, the Congress leader had stated, adding that “discussions are on in Delhi.”
The process could take six to seven months, but a change in leadership ahead of the 2028 polls “is confirmed”, the leader stated.
