SHILLONG, Oct 18: Meghalaya Governor CH Vijayashankar on Saturday flagged off the first batch of students from the state selected for the Skill Development Programme in various trades under AYUSH. The programme is an initiative of Santhigiri Ashram, supported by Zerodha under its CSR initiative.
The Governor’s presence at the flag-off served as a strong motivation for the students embarking on their transformative journey.
The programme, designed in collaboration with Zerodha, goes beyond therapeutic training by incorporating modules on spoken English, personality development and financial literacy, thereby equipping participants with essential life skills for success in the modern wellness industry.
The initiative marks the beginning of a major movement expected to benefit thousands of underprivileged youth from the Northeastern states, including Meghalaya, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in the rapidly expanding AYUSH sector.
It also aligns with the Skill India and Atmanirbhar Bharat missions, focusing on generating employment opportunities in India’s growing wellness and traditional medicine sectors.
