Tura, Oct 22: The GSU, Western Zone Ampati has alleged illegal encroachment by outsiders into akinglands at two villages and has sought the GHADC’s intervention in the matter.

As per the complaint issued in this regard to GHADC CEM Albinush R Marak, the illegal encroachment into a’kinglands is taking place at Katuli and Jhalgaon villages under Ampati.

“These places are situated within the interstate boundary of Assam-Meghalaya border. More than 50 to 60 households have settled on this land over the past 20 years, and investigations reveal that these individuals do not possess any documentation from Meghalaya. Instead, they are registered as voters in Assam,” the union alleged, in the complaint.

Reminding that the unauthorized occupation was a clear case of land encroachment, it sought the conduct of an inquiry and subsequent eviction of the encroachers if they fail to provide valid land documents.
