SHILLONG, Oct 23: Cabinet Minister Marcuise Marak on Thursday represented Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma at the 3rd High-Level Task Force Meeting on Investment Promotion.
The meeting, chaired by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, was attended by Union Minister for DoNER Jyotiraditya M Scindia and other dignitaries.
Marak said that the deliberations focused on addressing the challenges and harnessing the immense growth potential of the North Eastern Region (NER). The Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to a transformative vision for the region—positioning it as India’s Green Industrial Hub, developing an Eastern Startup Corridor, enhancing trade and cross-border connectivity, and promoting the NER as an integrated tourist destination. Aligning with these national objectives, Marak stated that the Government of Meghalaya is committed to expanding the state’s economy from $5.9 billion to $10 billion by 2028.
“This growth will be driven by our government’s focus on 10 Strategic Opportunities and 10 Guarantees, aimed at creating five lakh new job opportunities for our citizens,” he said.
