Youth drowns in Sohkmie river at Sohra

SHILLONG, Oct 23: One Ricky Thangkhiew, approximately 21-22 years old, a resident of Laimer Nongkseh Block-5, tragically drowned in Sohkmie river at Sohra, while swimming with two of his college friends.
According to police, the group was on a casual outing when Ricky was swept away by strong currents and pulled into the deeper part of the river. His body has not yet been recovered. Police said that the Search and Rescue Team (SRT) of the Meghalaya Fire & Emergency Services will go to the site on Friday morning.
