SHILLONG, Oct 24: A resident of Mawbah was critically injured after being brutally assaulted outside his office in Jhalupara, Shillong.
According to a written complaint lodged by Pramod Joshi, a resident of Barapathar (Mawbah), with the Officer-in-Charge of Jhalupara Beat House, his son, Tanuj Joshi, was attacked on the evening of October 23 around 7 pm outside his office in the Jhalupara Cantonment area.
Joshi alleged that two men, identified as Aman Das and Aditya Kumar, accompanied by two unidentified individuals, attacked his son without provocation.
The attackers reportedly dragged Tanuj out of his office and repeatedly assaulted him with fists, kicks and possibly blunt objects.
The assault is said to have followed a verbal altercation between Tanuj and Aditya Kumar a day earlier at a local café, Neha Telecom, which was later settled by Aditya’s uncle.
Despite the previous day’s resolution, the next day’s attack left Tanuj with multiple grievous injuries, including a broken jaw, fractured mandible ramus, broken teeth and loss of vision in his left eye.
The victim is currently admitted to NEIGRIHMS, where doctors have described his condition as critical and recommended surgical intervention.
Meanwhile, the complainant has urged strict legal action against the accused under sections pertaining to attempted murder and grievous assault, calling on the police to investigate the incident and ensure justice.
