Rangoli competition held as part of  Nasha Mukt Bhartat Abhyian

Tura, Oct 29: The two-day Rangoli competition organised as part of a Nation-wide pre-event campaign for the Prime Minister’s Event on 5 years of Nasha Mukt Bhartat Abhyian (NMBA), concluded on October 29th,. 2025.
The completion was organised by the department of Social Welfare, South West Garo Hills in collaboration with the Social Humanoid, Garobadha and District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Ampati.
The Rangoli competition aimed at creating awareness on drugs and substance abuse among the community. Various other activities are being organised to commemorate the 5 year anniversary of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) which will culminate in a high-level event to be graced by Hon’ble Prime Minister in November 2025.
  The event attracted hundred plus women from various age groups and especially the youth who participated with enthusiastic fervour in the competition. Artistic rangolis were prepared to create awareness on drug and substance abuse.  Cash Prizes including consolation prizes were distributed for the best rangoli presentations.
Smt.Sunita Gupta, Smt.Prashanna Shaw and Smt.Sujya Modak were adjudged the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively in the competition while six others were presented with consolation prizes.
Shri Ritcheng  A. Sangma from Social Welfare Department, Ampati spoke on ‘drug and substance abuse and its ill effects’. Stressing on the participation of the community in the prevention and mitigation of the menace in the area He spoke on the effects drug abuse had on society as a whole.
Shri Lakhan Prassad, President of ‘The Social Humanoid’, an NGO spoke on the importance of community involvement including women in fighting the drug menace and drug trafficking in the area.
Among others present at the gathering were officials from the Social Welfare Department, Ampati, District Hub for Empowerment of Women, President and members of The Social Humanoid, Garobadha, senior citizens and anganwadis.
