SHILLONG, Oct 29: The Meghalaya Cabinet has given its nod to the rationalisation of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) schools.
Announcing this decision after the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Minister and MDA Spokesperson Wailadmiki Shylla said Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui recently met the SSA teachers, who had requested a new pay structure and rationalisation of the SSA schools.
The minister, however, was unable to provide the data on the impact of the rationalisation scheme, stating that the department is still working on the details.
The Cabinet also approved the regularisation of special educators and similar professionals as mandated in a Supreme Court order.
Shylla said the government decided to regularise the posts of 283 educators and professionals working as contractual employees.
The Cabinet further approved the Meghalaya Village Defence Organisation Rules, 2025, aiming to modernise the VDPs by providing them with uniforms, ID cards, walkie-talkies, and other necessary equipment.
