‘Matribhumi Seva Award’ for noted writer Salil Gewali

SHILLONG, Oct 29: Noted writer and research scholar Salil Gewali has been awarded the prestigious ‘Matribhumi Seva Puraskar’ by the Meghalaya Bihar Yuva Munch, Shillong.
The award was presented during the Chhath Puja celebration by the president of Umshyrpi Chhat Puja Committee, Shiv Shankar Prasad, in the presence of a distinguished audience, cultural artists, and respected guests.
This honour recognises Gewali’s outstanding contribution to the nation, especially through his widely acclaimed book, Great Minds on India and Bharat Kya Hai (Hindi edition).
Notably, Great Minds on India, based on deep research, has already been translated into 15 languages and continues to inspire readers, intellectuals, scientists across the world. In 2024, the Arabic edition of Gewali’s book was released from Dubai and Doha (Qatar).
The president of Meghalaya Bihar Yuva Munch remarked that it is a matter of immense pride for Meghalaya that this landmark publication, originating from this state, was translated by the Language department of the Government of Punjab and has also been officially recommended for college students by the Education Board of Madhya Pradesh as an additional subject.”
