SHILLONG, Oct 30: JHADC Chief Executive Member Thombor Shiwat has asserted that Lapangap belongs to Meghalaya.
Informing that the Sanad of the headman of the village was issued by the JHADC since the village belongs to Meghalaya, he lamented that West Jaintia Hills Regional Committee on Border has not even met once since the 2023 Assembly elections.
Asked about the demand of the Karbi villagers to take action against the person who was involved in the killing of a Karbi villager in the area recently, the CEM said he did not know who the accused was.
He pointed out that the recent skirmish was the first of its kind since Lapangap has always been a peaceful area.
Shiwat also informed that the harvesting has been completed in the area without any incident.
