SHILLONG, Nov 5: The Education department has partially modified its earlier notification and announced that the use of DERT question papers for the final examinations of Classes VI to IX during the academic session 2025 shall not be mandatory for missionary schools of various denominations that already have a robust system of conducting examinations.
Commissioner and Secretary of Education department, Vijay Kumar Mantri, stated that this exemption may be applied either fully or partially—that is, to all or to selected classes—at the discretion of the respective missionary school.
Last month, the Meghalaya Schools Welfare Development Association had informed that the question papers for core subjects of classes 6 to 9 will be prepared by the DERT and not by individual schools.
It was also informed that the question papers will be distributed through the DSEL to the respective District School Education Offices (DSEO and SDSEO), from where schools will collect and print them as required.
