SHILLONG, Nov 6: Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma is examining a proposal to hold assembly sessions outside Shillong.
Sangma made it clear that as long as Meghalaya remain one state, the main assembly session will be held in Shillong.
“We can have one-day sessions or a part of the budget, autumn or winter sessions outside Shillong,” he said while reacting to the demand for holding assembly sessions in Tura.
Earlier this year, the Assam Assembly held its first-ever session outside of Guwahati at the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Assembly building in Kokrajhar, as a symbol of inclusive governance and the return of peace to the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
