Shillong, Nov 8: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Saturday inspected the ongoing construction of the P.A. Sangma Sports Complex in Tura and announced that the indoor stadium component of the project is expected to be completed by 2026.
During the visit, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of various facilities under construction, including the indoor stadium and the upcoming swimming pool. He was accompanied by West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal, IAS, and other senior officials.
Speaking at the site, Sangma expressed satisfaction with the pace of work, noting that the football stadium within the complex has already been completed and is fully operational. “The indoor section will soon include facilities for badminton, basketball, volleyball, and an Olympic-standard swimming pool. This will be a tremendous asset for the Garo Hills region and a step forward as we prepare for the National Games in 2027,” he said.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the state government is committed to promoting sports infrastructure across Meghalaya to nurture young talent and provide athletes with modern training facilities. He reaffirmed that the indoor stadium’s construction is progressing steadily and remains on track for completion by 2026.
Envisioned as a world-class integrated sports hub, the P.A. Sangma Sports Complex will feature multiple sporting venues and modern amenities designed to host both regional and national-level events.
