SHILLONG, Nov 8: The condition of the vital road from Umiam to Shillong is deteriorating from bad to worse with each passing day.
Although a few potholes have been filled in certain sections, a large portion of the 17-kilometre stretch continues to have rough and uneven patches.
With Shillong and its adjoining areas now experiencing clear weather, people are hopeful that the concerned authorities will take cognisance of the worsening condition and repair the entire stretch at the earliest, considering it is one of the busiest roads connecting Shillong with the rest of the country.
The road is also frequently used by tourists and with more visitors expected to arrive in Shillong for the upcoming Cherry Blossom and other festivals, locals have urged for prompt restoration to ensure smooth travel and safety.
