PIMC celebrates one year of medical excellence, welcomes new batch

GUWAHATI, Nov 11:  P.A. Sangma International Medical College and Hospital (PIMC) marked a significant milestone on November 11, 2025, as it celebrated its first anniversary, accompanied by an orientation programme for the new batch of MBBS students at the Central Auditorium, attended by Dr M. L. A. Rahman, a renowned neurosurgeon associated with Rahman Hospitals and Hayat Hospital, Guwahati.

The event brought together the students, parents, distinguished guests, faculty members, Vice Chancellor of USTM, Professor G D Sharma, Dr RK Sharma, Advisor USTM, Dr Jogesh
Sharma, Director Medical Education, PIMC, the Principal of PIMC Dr Abhinandan Das, and
all the concerned Heads of Departments of PIMC, the Registrar of USTM Mrs Anju
Hazarika, and the Academic Registrar Dr Azmol Hussain Barbhuyan, Controller of Examination, Dr Nurjjaman Laskar in a memorable ceremony that reflected PIMC’s vision of academic excellence and compassionate medical education, according to a Press release.

The programme commenced with the rendition of the College Anthem, followed by the
welcoming of dignitaries and a solemn Smriti Tarpan in memory of the late Dr Zubeen Garg, observed with a one-minute silence.

The auspicious lighting of the ceremonial lamp symbolized the light of knowledge and the start of a new academic journey.
The distinguished guests were felicitated, followed by a address delivered by the principal of PIMC Dr Abhinandan Das, who extended warm greetings to all attendees and reflected on the institution’s remarkable progress in its first year.

The highlight of the morning was the release of the PIMC Annual Report, showcasing the college’s achievements in academics, research, and community service over the past year.

Dr. M. L. A. Rahman, a celebrated neurosurgeon delivered an inspiring address, motivating
students to pursue medical education with passion, empathy, and integrity. His words
resonated deeply with the young minds embarking on their professional journey.

The ceremony also included the Academic Awards Presentation, recognising the rank holders and subject-wise highest scorers of the MBBS First Professional University Examination (August 2025) conducted under various categories at PIMC.

A defining moment of the day was the White Coat Ceremony, where new students donned
their white coats for the first time, symbolising their entry into the noble medical profession.

This was followed by the recitation of the Hippocratic Oath, pledging dedication to ethical
medical practice and service to humanity.

The day continued with a Parents-Teachers Meet and a Cultural Program, showcasing the
diverse talents of PIMC students and celebrating the spirit of unity and joy.

As PIMC completes its first year, the celebration serves as a testament to its commitment to nurturing competent, compassionate, and globally minded healthcare professionals.
