NEW DELHI, Nov 12: Gold prices surged by Rs 2,000 to Rs 1,27,900 per 10 grams in Delhi on Wednesday, driven by strong global trends, according to the All India Sarafa Association.
The 99.5% purity metal rose from Monday’s close of Rs 1,25,300, marking a Rs 3,300 gain over the last two sessions.
Bullion markets had remained closed on Tuesday following a blast near Red Fort.
Analysts attributed the rise to firm international gold prices near USD 4,100 per ounce and optimism over a potential US government reopening, which could influence key economic data and the Federal Reserve’s December rate outlook.
Silver also spiked by Rs 5,540 to Rs 1,61,300 per kg, with overseas silver rising 0.86% to USD 51.66 per ounce. (PTI)
