SHILLONG, Nov 14: As the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections draw nearer, the National People’s Party (NPP) has expressed confidence that its developmental track record will resonate with voters. The party believes that its work on the ground will stand as its strongest campaign message.
NPP working president and cabinet minister Marcuise N Marak said the party is approaching the upcoming polls with optimism, backed by visible progress across sectors. “Most of the prevailing issues we have already addressed. We will go to the people with a positive attitude for their support, and we are hoping to get a good response from them,” Marak stated.
Downplaying claims by rivals that the Congress is regaining strength in Garo Hills, the minister questioned their ability to counter the NPP’s achievements. “Every political party says they will gain, but where is the point they can go against NPP?” he asked.
Marak asserted that the ruling party has fulfilled its promises to the people and maintained its focus on governance rather than rhetoric. “NPP has done whatever needs to be done. We have done our level best, and people also know it. We don’t boast—we just want the support of the people based on our work,” he said.
He further stressed that the NPP’s development initiatives will speak louder than campaign slogans. “The groundwork will talk,” Marak said, exuding confidence that the party’s performance will translate into a strong mandate in the GHADC polls.
