Man kills son for ‘indulging in wrongful acts’

BIJNOR (UP), Nov 15: A man, along with two associates, allegedly killed his son over his “wayward behaviour”.Police said the body of Salman (24) was found in a mango orchard on November 9. During the investigation, police arrested the victim’s father, Nafees, and his aides, Shamshad and Mahavir.According to police, Nafees confessed to the crime, stating that Salman had been “indulging in wrongful acts”. He told investigators that he, along with the two accomplices, strangled Salman and hit him with a brick while he was sleeping, before dumping the body in the orchard.Nafees further claimed that Salman had recently attempted to make physical contact with a woman in the family, which allegedly provoked him to commit the crime. Class 6 girl dies days after being punished with ‘100 sit-ups’

PALGHAR, Nov 15: A Class 6 student of a private school in Maharashtra’s Palghar district died nearly a week after she was allegedly made to perform 100 sit-ups as punishment for coming late, prompting the authorities to launch a probe.Anshika Gaud passed away in a Mumbai hospital on Friday night. Anshika and four other students were made to perform 100 sit-ups each for reaching school late on November 8.The deceased girl’s mother alleged that her daughter died as a result of an “inhuman punishment” given by her teacher, who made her perform sit-ups with her school bag on her back. Block Education official said an inquiry is being conducted. (PTI)

NIA arrests MBBS student from Bengal for alleged links with terror outfits

KOLKATA, Nov 15: An MBBS student has been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in West Bengal’s Uttar Dinajpur district for his alleged links to terror outfits, a senior police officer said on Saturday.The accused, identified as Janisur Alam alias Nisar Alam, an MBBS student of Al-Falah University, Haryana, was picked up on Friday morning, he said.Alam was arrested while returning from a wedding ceremony at his ancestral home, on suspicion of alleged terror links by sleuths of the NIA, he said.“The youth is a medical student of Haryana’s Al-Falah University. He had travelled to his ancestral home with his mother and sister to attend a relative’s wedding. Officers of the NIA intercepted him on his way back after tracking his movements through mobile-tower location data,” the officer said. (PTI)
