TURA, Nov 16: The All Garo Hills Multipurpose Cooperative Society (AGHMPCS), in collaboration with the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA) and the Coffee Board of India, organised a significant and community-centric Profit-Sharing Programme at Aguragre village under Rongram Block in West Garo Hills recently.
The programme forms an essential part of the long-term strategy to strengthen the coffee value chain in the Garo Hills region by ensuring that the benefits of coffee cultivation reach the grassroots level—especially the local farmers, who are the backbone of the sector.
Tura Coffee Board Senior Liaison Officer, Yapi Haji was the chief guest on the occasion in the presence of AGHMPCS secretary Fr Sunny Joseph Mavelil and other dignitaries.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the distribution of more than Rs 1.5 lakh to 11 progressive coffee farmers for their contributions to strengthening coffee cultivation in the Garo Hills region.
