PM Modi to visit Johannesburg for G20 Summit
NEW DELHI, Nov 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Johannesburg from November 21 to 23 to attend the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit hosted by South Africa, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Wednesday. This will be the fourth consecutive G20 Summit held in the Global South. At the Summit, Prime Minister Modi will put forth India’s perspectives on the G20 agenda. He is expected to speak in all three sessions of the Summit, it said. “On the margins of the G20 Leaders’ Summit, the prime minister is expected to hold bilateral meetings with some of the leaders present in Johannesburg. The prime minister will also be participating in the India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) Leaders’ Meeting being hosted by South Africa,” the MEA said. (PTI)
5.67 villages in India declared ODF Plus: Data
New Delhi, Nov 19: Nearly 5.67 lakh villages across the country have been declared ODF Plus, recording a 467 per cent increase from 1 lakh in 2022, according to official data released by the Jal Shakti ministry on the occasion of World Toilet Day on Wednesday. Of these, 4.86 lakh villages have achieved the ‘ODF Plus Model’ stage which means that they sustain open-defecation-free status while managing both solid and liquid waste and maintaining visual cleanliness, the data said. As per the official data, over 95 per cent of villages in India were declared ODF Plus. (PTI)
