Health dept orders removal of products using ‘ORS’ in misleading manner

SHILLONG, Nov 21: The Health Department on Friday ordered that all products labelled as “ORS Drink” or using the term “ORS” in any misleading manner must be removed from all retail shelves/stores in the state with immediate effect.
The order issued by the Commissionerate of Food Safety directed all wholesalers and distributors to immediately recall these products from the respective retailers in the markets including pharmacies and doctors’ clinics and send the same to the manufacturing companies for relabelling as per FSSAI directives.
They were also directed to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures issued for complete traceability during the recall process.
The order further stated that enforcement and supervision of this action will be carried out by designated Food Safety officers across the state.
