Family kills teen girl after catching her with boyfriend

RANCHI, Nov 21: A teenage girl was beaten to death allegedly by her family in Jharkhand’s Garhwa district after being caught with her boyfriend.Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the body of the girl, about 15 years old, as it was being secretly cremated by the family on Thursday evening, they said.“We had received information that the girl had been beaten to death after her family caught her with her boyfriend. A police team reached the cremation ground when family members were preparing to cremate her body,” a senior police officer said.“Most family members fled the scene on seeing the police, but the victim’s father and brother were arrested,” he added. Stray dogs poisoned to death

THANE, Nov 21: A case has been registered against two office-bears of a housing complex at Bhiwandi in the district for allegedly causing the death of three stray dogs by feeding them poisoned-laced meat, police said on Friday.The dogs, which frequented the housing complex in Bhadwad area, were found dead on Thursday morning. Another dog, which too had been fed the meat, survived, as per the complaint.“A FIR has been registered against two office-bearers of the housing society on a complaint filed by a local activist under section 325 (mischief by killing or maiming animal) of the BNS and provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act,” said an official.“We are conducting further probe,” he added. Smuggled snake venom worth Rs 80 crore seized

PALAMU, Nov 21: A joint team of the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau and the Forest Department claimed to have busted a snake venom smuggling racket in Jharkhand’s Palamu district, and arrested seven people for their alleged involvement.The team recovered around 1,200 gm of snake venom valued at Rs 80 crore and 2.5 kg of pangolin scales.Four people were arrested on Friday.The three accused, including an elderly man and his son, who were arrested earlier had already been sent to judicial custody.Many others are likely to be involved in the racket, and the raids were continuing, the an official said. JEE aspirant dies after falling off building’s ninth floor

KOTA, Nov 21: A 17-year-old student from Bhopal preparing for JEE in Kota died after allegedly falling off the ninth floor of a multi-story building in Kota on Friday afternoon, officials said.The deceased student was identified as Ishan Paliwal (17), a resident of Bhopal, who was preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and lived with his mother.The teenager fell off the balcony of the building and died shortly after, during treatment at a private hospital, DSP Yogesh Sharma said.The DSP added that it is yet to be ascertained if the student’s death was an accident or suicide. FSL squad was sent to the scene to collect evidence. The teenager’s mother was with him when the incident occurred, he sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a private hospital; however, he could not be saved and died shortly after. (PTI)
