White-collar terror: Doctors’ radicalisation began on social media in 2019

New Delhi, Nov 23: The radicalisation of the doctors involved in the recent ‘white-collar’ terror module that came to light with the November 10 Red Fort area bombing began as early as 2019 on social media platforms, officials said on Sunday. The investigation so far indicated a concerning shift in cross-border terror strategy, where highly educated professionals were groomed entirely through digital means by handlers operating from Pakistan and other parts of the world, the officials familiar with the probe said. The members of the terror cell, which included Dr Muzammil Ganaie, Dr Adeel Rather, Dr Muzzafar Rather and Dr Umar-un-Nabi, who drove the explosive-laden car on November 10, were initially spotted by handlers across the border while active on social media platforms like Facebook and discussion spaces on X. They were immediately shifted to private groups on Telegram, they said, adding that actual brainwashing started from here. (PTI)

Tomorrow Sindh may return to India: Rajnath

New DelhI, Nov 23: Recalling BJP patriarch L K Advani’s words on Sindh’s civilisational connect with India despite the Partition, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said “borders can change” and “tomorrow Sindh may return to India.” In his address at an event hosted by the Sindhi community here, he said that “Advani ji wrote in one of his books that Sindhi Hindus, especially those of his generation, still haven’t accepted the matter of separation of Sindh from India”. “Not just in Sindh, but throughout India, Hindus considered the Indus River (Sindhu in Hindi) sacred. Many Muslims in Sindh also believed that the water of the Indus was no less sacred than the Aab-e-Zamzam (holiest of the waters) of Mecca. “This is Advani ji’s quote. Today, the land of Sindh may not be a part of India, but civilisationally, Sindh will always be a part of India. And as far as land is concerned, borders can change. Who knows, tomorrow Sindh may return to India. Our people of Sindh, who hold the Indus River sacred, will always be our own; no matter where they are, they will always be ours,” he said. (PTI)
