NEW DELHI, Nov 27: The diverse and colourful Meghalaya pavilion received the gold medal for best display under the “Thematic Presentation” at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025 which concluded at Bharat Mandapam on Thursday.
“The state has been adjudged as First for Excellence in Display in the 44th IITF”, the citation reads. Besides the citation the state also received the gold India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) trophy.
Additional Resident Commissioner of Meghalaya House, Sabrella B. Marak and Tourism Officer, Miuke Fuje D. Sangma received the award on behalf of the ITPO.
The fair which ran for 14 days from November 14 to Nov 27 showcased India’s rich diversity and progress, operating under the theme of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
The Meghalaya pavilion was inaugurated by Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma. This year, 42 entrepreneurs from the state participated —24 from the PRIME start-up ecosystem and 18 from the Directorate of Food Processing—spread across 12 stalls in three batches.
The pavilion featured a wide range of products, including handloom, handicrafts, woodcraft, pottery, spices, beverages, and processed foods such as juices, jams, pickles, chips, candies, and teas. The Tourism Department set up a photo and video exhibition highlighting Meghalaya’s waterfalls, rivers, caves, living root bridges, and tribal festivals, accompanied by continuous screenings of tourism and agricultural films.
Meghalayan Age Ltd displayed traditional crafts in wood, bamboo, and textiles, along with its premium product line available at its Delhi outlet.
The state’s participation is a joint effort of the Planning Department, Directorate of Food Processing, PRIME, and the Tourism Department.
Officials said the pavilion received excellent response, with strong trade enquiries indicating promising business opportunities.
For local entrepreneurs, the IITF served as a crucial platform for market exposure, networking, and long-term business growth.
India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and the India International Trade Fair (IITF) organise the trade fair every year.
