Bids invited
The Meghalaya government has invited bids for the development of the Nohkalikai Precinct Area at Sohra. The estimated contract value for the project is Rs 34.49 lakh, with a completion period of 24 months. It may be mentioned that Nohkalikai is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in Sohra, visited by hundreds of tourists every day.
Conviction
The Court of Special Judge POCSO, East Jaintia Hills, has convicted one Leiki Rymbai under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act According to a statement here, Rymbai has been found guilty under Section 6(1) of the POCSO Act and has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 25 years and to pay a fine of Rs one lakh. Additionally, the accused is also sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of one year and to pay a fine of Rs 5,000.
Immunisation
The Office of the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO), East Garo Hills, will implement Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation for children in the age group of 0-5 years from December 15 to 17 across the district.
