Kuldeep Singh takes over as IG, BSF Guwahati Frontier

GUWAHATI, Dec. 3: Kuldeep Singh assumed charge as the Inspector General (IG) of Border Security Force (BSF), Guwahati Frontier, an official statement issued on Wednesday said.

Singh succeeds Sukhdev Raj, IG, who has been posted to the Western Command in Chandigarh.

A 1990 batch direct entry officer of BSF cadre, Singh embarked upon his journey as Assistant Commandant in BSF. With 35 years of distinguished service, he has extensive field, staff and instructional experience, including key tenures with the NSG and the UN Mission in Kosovo.

He has earlier served as an Instructor at the BSF Academy and is also an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.

“With his rich professional background and leadership experience, Kuldeep Singh’s appointment is expected to further strengthen the organisation’s operational and administrative capabilities,” the statement issued by the PRO, BSF Guwahati Frontier, said.

After assuming the charge, Singh stressed upon effective border management to prevent crimes along the India-Bangladesh International Border and need to promote a sense of security among the people residing in the bordering area.

He also emphasised on maintaining the existing cordial relationship between the border guarding forces of the two neighbouring countries.
