SHILLONG, Dec 4: The Shillong Traffic Police (STP) has rolled out intensified enforcement across the city following a recent Office Memorandum from the Home (Police) Department, mandating strict adherence to traffic regulations.
Acting on the directive, the STP has detected a large number of vehicles flouting rules on the use of tinted glass or black films, unauthorised sirens, beacons, red lights with or without flashers, name plates, and flag rods meant for displaying the National Flag.
East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem stated that these violations contravene the Motor Vehicles Act and undermine both public safety and traffic discipline.
The STP has warned vehicle owners to immediately remove all such unauthorised fittings to avoid penalties. Enforcement will be stepped up citywide, with defaulters facing strict action.
