Bakery training culminates in JH

SHILLONG, Dec 6: As many as 62 participants on Friday completed an eight-day bakery training programme conducted by the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Community and Skill Development Centre (DDUCC), Wahiajer.
The training, held at the DDUCC Community Hall, focused on hands-on learning across a range of bakery items, including cookies, biscuits, tarts, choux pastry, muffins, cupcakes, pâte de fruits, marshmallows, candied nuts, and cake glazing and frosting techniques. The sessions were led by resource person Lamika Passah.
The valedictory function took place at the DDUCC campus and was attended by Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla as the chief guest. NEHU officials, including Registrar (In-charge) Prof. SK Dixit, along with representatives from MePDCL, Thadlaskein Block office, MACB Ummulong and local community leaders, were also present.
In his address, the health minister underscored the need for discipline, time management and innovation as the bakery sector becomes increasingly competitive.
He encouraged trainees to identify their unique selling proposition and explore opportunities available under government schemes such as the Meghalaya Skill Development Programme and PMEGP.
During the programme, speakers highlighted that DDUCC’s vocational programmes support the National Education Policy 2020 by promoting community-level skill development. Certificates were distributed to all participants.
