BRISBANE, Dec 7: Mark Butcher has criticised England’s performance in Brisbane, saying their heavy loss to Australia was the result of being outdone by “basic Test match cricket”. Butcher said Australia’s discipline and simplicity exposed England’s flaws.
“They’ve been beaten by a team with a stand-in captain, stand-in attack, and stand-in opener,” Butcher said. “Old-school determination, technique and discipline have beaten England’s aggression and talent. It was just bowlers hitting line and length. No more, no less.” (Agencies)
