Guwahati, Dec 16: Ahead of the next year’s Assembly elections in the state, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has taken up an initiative to reach out to every village across the state.
The programme titled ‘Raijor Podulit Raijor Congress’ will begin in full swing across the state from December 20, with the objective of building a new and greater Assam, APCC president Gaurav Gogoi said, while addressing the media on Tuesday.
“Immediately after the conclusion of the winter session of Parliament, we have decided to get down to work on the ground. We will understand the sentiments of the people. For this purpose, we have launched a website, https://natunaxom.com/. Through this website, we will be able to collect suggestions from the people digitally,” Gogoi said, adding, suggestions have initially been sought from students to improve the education sector.
On opposition unity, the APCC chief said that such matters are not discussed in front of cameras but are taken forward through off-camera discussions.
“Only after discussions are concluded can anything be officially stated regarding alliances,” he said, while asserting that the upcoming elections will not be easy for the BJP.
Meanwhile, the APCC president clearly stated that there would be no alliance with the AIUDF under any circumstances.
