Meeting today on tourist taxi body’s demands

SHILLONG, Dec 15: The state government has informed that High Court of Meghalaya that a Committee constituted by the state government is examining the demands by tourist taxi associations to ban entry of cabs from other states and a meeting has been fixed on Tuesday with the stakeholders to discuss a possible settlement.
The committee is headed by the Director of Tourism and comprises members from the Tourism and Law Departments, police, district administration and other stakeholders.
The High Court is hearing a PIL filed against the All Khasi Meghalaya Tourist Taxi Association earlier this year after it demanded restrictions on tourist vehicles from outside the state from operating in tourist zones.
