U-16 National Tennis championship

Shillong, Dec 16: The inaugural National-Level MTA-AITA Championship Series (CS7) for Under-16 Boys and Girls continued on Day 2 at The Shillong Club Tennis Courts, organised by the Meghalaya Tennis Association (MTA) in association with the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs (DSYA).
The tournament, running from December 15 to 19, has brought together promising young players from across India, delivering competitive matches and showcasing rising talent.
In the Boys U16 Singles quarter-finals, Arnav Bhuyan (Assam) defeated Udiit Praghan (Tamil Nadu) 6-1, 6-4, while Rosangkima Hlondo (Mizoram) beat Manveek Das (Assam) 6-0, 6-2.
Sookhi Dorjee (Meghalaya) triumphed over Ayyan Rehman (Assam) 6-0, 7-5, and Chandogya Tridive Pathak (Assam) recorded a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win against Jyotishman Kashyap (Assam). The semi-finals are set for tomorrow at 10 am, with Bhuyan facing Hlondo and Dorjee taking on Pathak.
In the Boys U16 Doubles quarter-finals, Chandogya Pathak & Enriich Patar defeated Ryan Kharkongor & Rosangkima Hlondo 6-2, 6-2. Pratham Mazumdar & Manveek Das beat Ashish Rawat & Vinayak Sharma 6-3, 6-2, while Jyotishman Kashyap & Udit Praghan overcame Nishant Das & Dhritisman Roy 6-4, 6-2.
Arnav Bhuyan & Aryan Rehman secured a 6-3, 6-4 win over Sookhi Dorjee & Elvin Pakma.
The event continues to highlight emerging talent from across the country and underscores Meghalaya’s growing focus on nurturing young tennis players at the grassroots level.
The second day of the championship showcased the skill, determination, and potential of India’s next generation of tennis stars. With semi-final clashes set for tomorrow, players like Arnav Bhuyan, Rosangkima Hlondo, Sookhi Dorjee, and Chandogya Tridive Pathak have already made a mark, promising more thrilling contests ahead.
