Sanbor celebrates Christmas in advance with orphanage kids

SHILLONG, Dec 16: Cabinet Minister and MLA Sanbor Shullai attended an advance Christmas and New Year celebration at the Ferrando Transit Home-cum-Children Orphanage in Mawdatbaki, Mawlai, meeting with the institution’s 87 children and providing financial support.
The celebration, hosted by Senior Staff In-Charge Achal Gurung, included a welcome address by Sister Dalina Francis G. Advocate and Deputy Chief of the Legal Aids Reform Council, Naphi Laso, delivered a life-enlightenment message.
The festive gathering began with Christmas carols sung by the children, followed by vibrant cultural performances and a skit depicting the birth of Jesus Christ. The programme also featured recitations, competitions, and concluded with a soulful hymn and prayer service led by Sister Cathreen, Second Staff Coordinator In-Charge.
As chief guest, Shullai praised the staff and members of the institution for their dedication and selfless service. Drawing inspiration from scripture, he reminded attendees that “Service to people is service to God.”
The chief guest also extended financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh as a gesture of support and encouragement toward the services rendered by the institution, making the advance Christmas and New Year celebration especially memorable for the children.
Other dignitaries attending the event included Daplin Buam, senior staff member; Jesica Kharmanlang, senior volunteer; and Deicy Chynret, senior volunteer.
