Shillong, Dec 18: Meghalaya created history by clinching the 9th Men’s IBFF National Blind Football Tournament 2025 title after defeating hosts Uttarakhand 1–0 in a thrilling final at the Maharana Pratap Sports College ground in Dehradun on Thursday.
The lone and decisive goal of the match was scored by Klingson D. Marak, the first Asian para football player from Meghalaya, sealing a memorable victory for the state and sparking celebrations among the team and supporters.
Meghalaya’s triumph came after a gruelling campaign that saw the team battle through 12 hard-fought group-stage matches, producing several impressive goals and overcoming intense semifinal encounters to reach the summit clash.
The final was a closely contested affair, marked by disciplined defending, tactical awareness and unwavering determination from both sides. However, Meghalaya’s resilience and composure proved decisive, as Marak’s strike ultimately separated the two teams.
The championship victory reflects the team’s passion, perseverance and collective spirit, culminating in a proud moment for Meghalaya in national para sports.
