Justice Revati Mohite Dere to succeed Justice Soumen Sen
NEW DELHI, Dec 18: The Supreme Court Collegium, headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant, on Thursday recommended the appointment of Bombay High Court judge Justice Revati P. Mohite Dere as Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.
Justice Dere is currently the second senior-most judge of the Bombay High Court.
Justice Dere was born in Pune and completed her LL.B. from Symbiosis Law College, Pune, and holds an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge, UK, as a Cambridge Commonwealth Trust scholar.
She practised before the Bombay High Court and also served as a prosecutor for the Government of Maharashtra before being elevated as an additional judge in 2013. In 2015, she was elevated as permanent judge of the Bombay High Court.
In another decision, the collegium recommended the transfer of Justice Soumen Sen, Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court, as Chief Justice of Kerala High Court after retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice on January 9. (Agencies)
