Hoard of commuters descend on NH-6 to gather spilled fish

NONGPOH, Dec 21: Hundreds of commuters along National Highway-6 were seen alighting from their vehicles to collect fish that had spilled onto the roadway at 19 Mer area in Ri-Bhoi on Sunday afternoon.
The unusual scene followed an accident involving a fish-laden vehicle (ML10D2739), which was travelling from Shillong towards Byrnihat. The vehicle reportedly overturned, causing the consignment of fish to scatter across the highway.
According to sources, the incident occurred at around 1.30 pm. While the exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, it was confirmed that the driver escaped unhurt.
The incident led to temporary traffic congestion on the busy highway.
