SHILLONG, Dec 23: The United Democratic Party (UDP) is still awaiting a crucial report from its Garo Hills committee regarding strategy for the upcoming Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections, according to general secretary Titosstarwell Chyne.
Chyne confirmed that the committee informed the party leadership that the report would be submitted after the New Year.
While the UDP has already decided to contest the GHADC elections, key decisions—including the number of candidates and their specific constituencies—remain pending.
Chyne stated that the party has given the committee full authority over GHADC poll decisions. However, no report has been received so far, meaning details on prospective new members joining the UDP ahead of the polls are also unknown.
The UDP’s next course of action for the GHADC elections will depend entirely on the committee’s findings once the report is formally submitted, the leader noted.
