B’deshi intruders nabbed
On December 18, around 12.30 am, while conducting ‘naka’ checking, police intercepted a tourist vehicle (ML-04D-9309) driven by one Chemphang Rasmut (43) at Amlarem Market Junction in West Jaintia Hills along with four occupants, suspected to be Bangladeshi nationals, viz., Saidul Sheik (27), Lemon Shutdar (24), Rison Hussain (18) and Rubel Sheik (27). During enquiry, it transpired that the aforementioned intruders had infiltrated into Indian territory from Dawki with an intention to proceed to Assam, without any valid/proper documents.
Assault
On December 17, circa 11 pm, miscreant(s) assaulted one Hector Sohshang (57) at Bara Bazar, China Town, Shillong, causing injuries to him.
Vegetable vendor harassed
Bappy Bormon lodged a complaint that on December 15, at 7.10 pm, two individuals — Arun Upadaya and Deba Upadaya — went to his vegetable shop at Brahminpara, Tura, West Garo Hills, attempted to stop him from conducting his business, restrained and also assaulted him.
One hurt in brawl
On the evening of December 17, police received information that an altercation broke out between construction workers at Dakopgre area in Tura, West Garo Hills. Following this, one of the workers sustained injuries and was admitted at Tura Civil Hospital.
Loan fraud
A male resident of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that on Oct 30, 2025, he received an anonymous phone call, wherein the caller informed him that a loan had been sanctioned in him name by one agency ‘Dhani Loan’ and also has defaulted the loan. Upon enquiring from his bank, the complainant found that no such loan amount was credited to his Bank account, however, his bank account was found linked to the said agency. Later, the complainant also learnt that some miscreant(s) had misused his PAN card and Aadhaar card details to avail the loan.
Certificate anomalies
The In-charge of Tikrikilla PHC in West Garo Hills lodged a complaint that three duplicate birth certificates from different individuals were detected.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shillong, lodged a complaint that during the process document verification for Agniveer Army Recruitment Rally, one fake OBC certificate in the name of one Kundan Ray, was detected.
Stolen dumper truck found in Assam
Atul Das lodged a complaint that on the night of December 11, miscreant(s) stole his dumper truck (ML-05R-6791) from Rangku in East Khasi Hills. However, on December 13, the truck was detained by Assam Police at Barpeta, Assam, along with two occupants — Pritam Biswas (19) and Tofiz Ali (31).
Masked miscreants loot cash
Sondaring Mawlieh lodged a complaint that on Dec 12, circa 5.30 pm, four masked miscreants entered into his shop at Mawiong Nongkhlaw area in Eastern West Khasi Hills and forcibly took away Rs 2,000 in cash at gun point.
Online shopping scam
A male resident of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that his brother bought a product from one website ‘teentoy.in’; following which, the seller provided a QR code/UPI ID via WhatsApp for payment. On November 24, at 12.52 pm, Rs 16,000 was successfully paid through GPay to ‘ED BRANDING’ but ordered product was not delivered.
Firewood theft
Jestbat Mukhim lodged a complaint that on December 14, circa 11.28 pm, miscreants from Jatah Lakadong village led by two individuals — Horit Suting and Skhem Lawai — stole about one pick-up vehicle load of firewood amount to Rs 7,000 from in front of his residence.
Vehicle broken into
Ronny Mawthoh lodged a complaint that on December 17, at 6.26 am, he found that miscreant(s) broke into his vehicle (ML-05AA-0225) at Nongshiliang, West Malki, Shillong and also stole the LCD music system from the vehicle.
Robbery
On December 17, at about 5 pm, one Shahidul Islam verbally reported that some miscreant(s) in one vehicle (ML-09A-6433) forcibly took away Rs 10,000 from him and his associates at Edenbari, Tura, West Garo Hills.
