SHILLONG, Dec 24: In the run-up to Christmas, Governor CH Vijayashankar visited several churches in Shillong to offer prayers and extend his warm greetings to the Christian community on this joyous occasion.
As part of his visit, the Governor prayed at the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, Laban Presbyterian Church, All Saints’ Church, Mizo Presbyterian Church, and Garo Baptist Church. At each location, he interacted with church leaders and members of the congregation, exchanging greetings and sharing in the festive spirit.
While conveying his best wishes, Vijayashankar said that Christmas is a celebration of love, compassion, humility, and selfless service to humanity.
The Governor emphasised that the festival carries a timeless message of peace and goodwill, and called for strengthening harmony, unity, and mutual respect among all communities.
The Governor also expressed his deep appreciation for the significant role played by churches and faith-based institutions in the state. He acknowledged their contributions in nurturing moral values, undertaking social service, and fostering communal harmony across Meghalaya.
Praying for the continued well-being, peace, and progress of the people, the Governor extended his heartfelt Christmas greetings and wished that the festive season would bring joy, prosperity, and hope to every household in the state.
