Fire breaks out in city on Christmas Eve

SHILLONG, Dec 26: A fire incident broke out at the residence of Razia Langstieh, a resident of Malki Nongshilliang, at around 8:30 pm on Wednesday on Christmas Eve, while the family was preparing to attend the Christmas Mass.
According to sources, the fire is believed to have been caused by a short circuit in the main circuit room, which affected the ground floor of the building.
Alert local residents rushed to the spot and made initial efforts to douse the fire using construction sand and water.
Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) personnel arrived promptly at the scene and successfully brought the fire under full control, preventing it from spreading further.
Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life were reported in the incident. However, several important documents and essential household belongings were damaged in the fire.
The Langstieh family expressed their sincere gratitude to the F&ES personnel for their swift and efficient response and also appreciated the residents of Malki Nongshilliang for their timely assistance and support during the emergency.
