Youth dies from electrocution at Jorabat

NONGPOH, Dec 30: A 20-year-old youth died on the spot after he allegedly came into contact with an 11 kV electricity transformer near Pine Club at Jorabat.
According to sources, the incident occurred at around 4am on Tuesday and also led to a power outage in the area.
The deceased was identified as Ezan Thapa, a native of Nepal, who was working at Pine Club, Jorabat. He reportedly sustained severe burns after accidentally touching the high-voltage transformer.
Following the incident, the management of Pine Club informed officials of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited, Byrnihat, as well as the police from Byrnihat Police Station. Police later retrieved the body and shifted it to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
