Expert panel to assess safety of GSWSS Dam

SHILLONG, Jan 5: The Meghalaya government has constituted an independent panel of experts to carry out a comprehensive safety evaluation of the Greater Shillong Water Supply Dam in accordance with the Dam Safety Act, 2021.
The panel has been tasked with assessing the structural stability, hydrological safety and seismic resilience of the dam, and to recommend corrective measures, if required, to ensure long-term safety and uninterrupted water supply to the city.
The expert committee includes Gulshan Raj, former Chief Engineer, Dam Safety Organisation; Amit Gupta, design expert; Bub Martin War, dam safety expert; Narendra Goel, hydrology expert; and P.S. Mishra, geologist and seismic expert.
