CM attends pre-budget meet in Delhi

NEW DELHI, Jan 10: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma participated in a pre-budget consultation meeting in New Delhi on Saturday, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, with States and Union Territories to gather inputs for the Union Budget 2026-27.
Besides Conrad, the meeting was attended by Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, the Governor of Manipur, and Chief Ministers from Delhi, Goa, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, and Sikkim. Sangma had arrived in the national capital on Friday night with senior officials.
NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery, eminent economists, state finance ministers, and senior officials from the Ministry of Finance were present to deliberate on key economic priorities.
This session follows 10 rounds of sectoral consultations held previously by the Finance Minister, involving experts from agriculture, MSMEs, capital markets, manufacturing, and technology. The Union Budget for 2026-27 is expected to be presented in Parliament on February 1.
